The Space Between

It’s that space between…

beautiful, warm fall days and chilly chilly nights with the reminder that soon, the snow will fly. The color in a few of our pots is living on borrowed time. This space between is a love-hate time of year! Love the beauty and the bounty but hate the impending and sometimes brutal dips of temps.

Oh well. One good thing about winter in Minnesota~ it keeps the bugs from getting too big. {sans mosquitos, of course}. Happy Fall!

Falling in Color

This time of year always leaves me feeling a bit wishy-washy. Love the colors. Dislike {cuz hate is a strong word} saying goodbye to summer. Love the change. Hate Dislike what’s in store for us mid-January through February.

In any case, it is a beautiful, beautiful time of year and while the hummingbirds are still showing up, I’m not going to complain about dipping temps- just yet. And, true confession… I actually like putting the garden away for the winter. Maybe gardeners aren’t supposed to say that, but it’s true for me.

Plus, I’ve got some pondering and reflecting to do this fall and winter. Like, what in the world direction this blog is going to take. Who am I as a blogger- er I mean– online writer? Do I simply chronicle creation or go deeper to the Creator… Do I have the guts… the inspiration…

I hope you’ll stay with me as I play a little ping-pong with these questions.

Have Frost on Your Pumpkin Too?

If you do, you have Minnesotan sympathies.  We say goodbye to our crazy weird summer… where spring looked more like fall and summer looked more like fall still and the dog days of August got switched with September and now our October looks like winter.  Sorry, I digress.  We seem to love to talk about the weather here.  Weird. Crazy. Minnesota.

This is what we woke up to yesterday morning…

Ah, if only all the troubles of this world consisted only of nature’s little eccentricities…

Man, I’d Love To Be in Napa Right Now!

Knock knock.  Helllloooo!

Anyone left to listen to my musings? I don’t blame you… after such a lengthy absence.  I’d be out transplanting and and watching the Twins WIN too!  That’s ok, maybe I can woo you back.

About the title… Napa Valley~ Rolls right off the tongue doesn’t it?  Great wine . Great food.  Great time of year.  If Scotty is taking requests, this is mine, right now.

that said…

My utterly fabulous husband put this split rail fence in for me recently.  So that my grapevine would have a happy home to grow along.  It sits on the NE SE corner of the house.  This is my favorite area… protected. private. peaceful.  I think the grapes will have a lovely time of it here.  In the spring, we’ll add a type of chicken wire to help it vine along.  p.s. I asked for this fence all summer, and I think it took my utterly fabulous husband 45″ to put it up.  Oh well. I’ve got it now.grape

Igot out there in the garden today and dug up my two rosemary plants {I can’t still smell it on me…  and it is good.} The nights are getting cool now so I’ll bring in my two orchids, hibiscus and of course, my beloved rosemary s this week. I also planted about 12 crocus bulbs {did I spell that right?} in and around… We’ll see if I can remember them in the spring but they’ll have to get past the dang varmints first.

The colors aren’t changing so much in the cities right now but soon… very soon.  And when they do, it is gorgeous.

Where are you at in your garden?

Come and visit my Bucket List… tell me what’s in yours! Let’s do this together…
